I have Irish on both sides of my family, but God alone knows where they're from. I only know my paternal Irish ancestor supposedly fled Ireland after murdering someone, which would make sense considering my family line. Another family line (maternal) is Dutch, and came over in the 1600s with the Dutch East India Co. Some of my ancestors settled/farmed what's now Manhattan. And that's about the extent of my genealogical knowledge.
